Elizabeth Kendall, a previous visiting artist, joined us at Flux from February 26- May 18, 2009.

Elizabeth Kendall Artist Statement:

I am intrigued by the interplay of opposites. A window is at the same time a frame for the view beyond and a barrier against the elements. A doorway is both a threshold into a new space and invitation to return home.
As I transform my clay into different shapes; celebrating softness and strength, movement and stasis, light and shadow, I am drawn through unexpected doorways.
My forms become bricks and windows, fabric scraps and building blocks. They can obscure or reveal--both framing a story and telling a story in their own right.
